Senior Energy Adviser
Marcel Raats graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from Eindhoven University, and started his career as a private consultant in waste and energy projects. In 2000, he joined one of the predecessors of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) as an energy specialist, focusing on renewable energy and energy access. In that position, he cooperates with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on its agenda for renewable energy and climate change and manages various programs and activities for energy access in developing countries. Mr. Raats is the co-director of the multi-donor Energising Development (EnDev) program, jointly managed by GIZ and RVO, facilitating energy access for rural and peri-urban households, SME’s, schools and health facilities in close to 30 developing countries since 2005.
